12:00 P.M. - 1:30 P.M.

On October 10th-11th, the Presidents of Lithuania and Poland co-hosted a Heads of State Summit in Vilnius entitled "Responsible Energy for Responsible Partners." As an integral part of this  conference, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, the Lithuanian Center for Strategic Studies and Hudson Institute on October 10th held a forum entitled "Energy Security: Supply, Demand and Diversification" that brought together an international group of energy experts.

Key issues discussed over the two days included: the importance of transatlantic energy cooperation, the need for an EU external energy policy, and the development of an integrated Baltic energy market.

Hudson Institute and the Embassy of Lithuania recently held a briefing on the major conclusions from this conference. The speakers provided their evaluations of the event as well as discussed the future of Europe's energy strategy. Furthermore, as a co-organizer of the expert's forum, Hudson Institute disseminated a brief summary offering a preliminary assessment of the Vilnius Energy Summit 2007, with lessons learned and suggestions on the way forward. The Lithuanian Embassy also distributed a copy of the official recommendations of the Vilnius Conference.

This on-the-record meeting took place at Hudson Institute, which is located at 1015 15th St, NW, 6th Floor, Washington, DC. For more information, please email Onur Sazak at onur@hudson.org or call (202) 974-6445.
