At 60: Is Israel Finished?

May 19, 2008, 12:00 - 2:00 PM - Hudson Institute, Washington, D.C. Headquarters

           Goldberg, Wurmser, and Rosner

The Atlantic Monthly Magazine posed the question “Is Israel finished?” in its May publication. As Israel celebrates its 60 years’ anniversary, the article’s author, Jeffrey Goldberg ponders Israel’s ability to survive and flourish as a small country faced with external threats emanating from one of the world's most volatile region. His concern about Israel’s continued military presence in the West Bank and the country’s ability to retain its Jewish majority are just a few of the issues that have prompted discussion between him and noted Ha’aretz journalist Shmuel Rosner.

Hudson Institute’s Center for Middle East Policy was pleased to host a debate between Goldberg and Rosner about the meaning of Zionism in the 21st century and the challenges facing Israel in the next 60 years to come.
