2:00 p.m.         Richard Weitz, senior fellow and Director, PNSR Case Studies Working Group, welcomed attendees.

 

 

2:05 p.m.         John McLaughlin, former deputy director of central intelligence and senior fellow at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University, discussed PNSR's recently released Preliminary Findings Report. The report concludes the U.S. national security system needs restructuring to better protect the American people from terrorism and other conflicts.

 

2:20 p.m.         James R. Locher III, PNSR executive director, discussed efforts to get PNSR's upcoming recommendations for an improved national security system approved and implemented, and gave an overview of PNSR's case studies.

 

2:40 p.m.         Question & Answer Session with James Locher and John McLaughlin.

 

                       

3:10 p.m.         Michelle Van Cleave, former national counterintelligence executive, presented her case study: "The NCIX and the National Counterintelligence Mission: What Has Worked, What Has Not, and Why." Q&A session followed.

 

4 p.m.              Richard Weitz discussed his case study:  "Managing U.S.-China Crises." Q&A session followed.
