Vienna Forum 2010May 6, 2010, May 6-9, 2010 The Vienna Forum 2010 was held May 6th-9th in the Neuwaldegg Castle of Vienna. It was an international summit of academics, policymakers, religious leaders, and journalists to discuss: "The Future of Europe and the Question of Islam."
The conference was a collaborative effort of the Hudson Institute, Kairos Journal, and the Educational Initiative for Central and Eastern Europe.
Following the highly successful Vienna Forum of 2008, the Vienna Forum 2010 generated invigorating discussion and debate on the state of Europe, democracy, and culture. The influence of religious thought on European political, economic and cultural traditions was discussed, with special consideration of the Islamic integration process in European culture. ![]() Herbert London and José María Aznar
Internationally renowned speakers, panelists, and attendees included, among others: José María Alfredo Aznar López, former Prime Minister of Spain; Herbert I. London, President of Hudson Institute; Lord David Alton of the British House of Lords; Declan James Ganley, Irish entrepreneur, businessman and political activist; Ryszard Legutko, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of Poland and philosophy professor at the Jagiellonian University; Marcello Pera, former President of the Italian Senate, current member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate, and co-author of a book with the then Card. Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) entitled "Without Roots"; Ondrej Socuvka, Economic Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador in Slovakia; Joseph Kassab, Executive Director of the Chaldean Federation of America and human rights activist in Iraq; Kenneth Robert Minogue, Australian political theorist and emeritus professor of political science at the London School of Economics; Rémi Brague, professor of Arabic and religious philosophy at the Sorbonne and at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich; Lamin Sahheh, professor of history and theology at Yale University; Roberto de Mattei, professor of history at the European University in Rome; Bat Ye'or, world famous Islam scholar; Bishop Thomas of the El-Qussia and Mair diocese in Upper Egypt; and His Excellency Bishop Macram Gassis, diocese of El-Obeid in Sudan.
