        Seth Cropsey and John Lee

In response to the continued rise of the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan is pursuing a political, economic, and military strategy to help stabilize relations with its mainland neighbor. The military strategy is based on Taiwanese and American forces providing an effective balance against Chinese capabilities in the Taiwan Strait, thereby deterring potential Chinese expansion. The political and economic strategy is to help moderate Beijing's behavior and even hasten the process of political and social reform within China.

Hudson Institute was pleased to host Visiting Fellow John Lee, the American Enterprise Institute’s Tom Donnelly, and Rick Fisher of the International Assessment and Strategy Center for a discussion on Taiwan's comprehensive China strategy and the military balance in the region. Hudson Senior Fellow Seth Cropsey moderated.
