A Discussion with Paul Brest on... A Decade of
Outcome-Oriented
Philanthropy
Event Description
No one has done more to promote the cause of strategic or “outcome-oriented” philanthropy over the past decade than Paul Brest, outgoing president of California’s William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. His recent essay on the theory and practice of this approach in the Stanford Social Innovation Review was the focus of discussion at our next panel. This event featured a panel of experts, including Paul Brest, Stanley Katz of Princeton University, Heather Peeler of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, and Dane Stangler of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Hudson Institute Senior Fellow William Schambra moderated the discussion.
