May 20, 2004
by Hudson Institute

INDIANAPOLIS - Hudson Institute Deputy Director of Civil Society Programs Larry Smith and Senior Fellow John Clark will present to the 2004 Indiana Leadership Summit, June 15-17, in Indianapolis.

Larry Smith, with co-facilitator Jim Ortiz, chairman of Latino Coaliton of Los Angeles, will discuss "Indiana's Faith-Based Leadership and Community Building" from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16. The conversation will explore some of the major faith-based/faith-related issues in Indiana and around the country, focusing on delivery of social services such as mentoring and drug counseling.

John Clark will discuss "Iraq, Democracy and Homeland Insecurity" at a summit evening Soiree on June 16. The summit Soirees include dinner and an intimate salon conversation led by an expert guest speaker, hosted in the relaxed environment of a private home. Clark will explore questions about Iraq and terrorism such as: Are we here in Indiana more or less secure since the invasion of Iraq? Is terrorism a major threat? What might the future look like for the U.S. in Iraq and the Middle East?

The 2004 Indiana Leadership Summit is in its third year in Indianapolis. The annual summit brings together a unique gathering of 500 key leaders from business, government, education, and non-profits who are responsible for the "building of communities" across the state. The 2004 summit will continue to focus on the urgency for change for the next Indiana.
