WASHINGTON, September 21, 2009 -- John Shenefield, former Associate Attorney General of the United States and former Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, has been named an Adjunct Fellow of the Hudson Institute.
"John Shenefield is a distinguished former public servant, a noted scholar, and a leading legal practitioner attorney," says Hudson CEO Kenneth Weinstein. "My colleagues and I look forward to benefiting from his experience and insight."
As Associate Attorney General under Attorney General Griffin Bell, Shenefield had supervisory responsibility for all civil litigation in which the United States was a party. Since leaving government service, he has written and testified before Congress on national security law issues, and twice been asked by the U.S. government to meet with foreign government officials and other national leaders to discuss the establishment of legal and budget regimes for the oversight of foreign intelligence services.
After leaving government in 1981, Shenefield practiced litigation, criminal, and transactional antitrust law in the United States and abroad. He also served as chairman of the 1000-plus-lawyer firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Shenefield retired from the full-time practice of law in 2008, and is now Counsel to the firm.
Shenefield is available for comment on antitrust law, regulatory policy, intelligence, and national security law.
