WASHINGTON—Hudson Institute, the future-oriented policy research organization based in Washington, is proud to announce that former Pakistani Ambassador Husain Haqqani has rejoined Hudson Institute as a Senior Fellow and Director for South and Central Asia.

"My colleagues and I are thrilled that Ambassador Haqqani is back at Hudson. He is a brilliant geostrategic analyst and student of Islam, as well as a leading voice for religious pluralism," says Hudson President and CEO Kenneth R. Weinstein. "Haqqani joins a growing team of noted scholars at Hudson Institute."

Ambassador Husain Haqqani served as Pakistan's ambassador to the United States from 2008–2011 and is widely credited with managing a difficult partnership during a critical phase in the global war on terrorism. His distinguished career in government includes serving as an advisor to four Pakistani prime ministers, Yusuf Raza Gilani, Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif and Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi. He also served as Pakistan's ambassador to Sri Lanka in 1992–93. From 2004 until 2008, Haqqani served as Co-Director of Hudson's Center on Islam, Democracy, and the Future of the Muslim World.

Ambassador Haqqani is the Director of the Center of International Relations, and a Professor of the Practice of International Relations at Boston University. His areas of expertise include public diplomacy, Muslim political movements, international journalism, intercultural relations, South Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle-East, and U.S.-Pakistan relations.

Husain Haqqani, along with Hillel Fradkin and Eric Brown, is co-editor of Hudson's signature journal Current Trends in Islamist Ideology.
