The Herman Kahn Fellowship

Hudson Institute announces the Herman Kahn Resident Fellowship Program.

The fellowships will be offered each year to support Ph.D. candidates who have completed their course work and have only their dissertation remaining. Applicants must have completed their course work within the last five years and provide evidence that they have been formally admitted to candidacy for a Ph.D.

Selected fellows will be able to work on their doctorate 50 percent of the time, with the remainder devoted to policy-oriented research projects assigned by Hudson Institute in their general area of interest. Hudson will pay each fellow a $24,000 stipend for one 10-month academic year. It also will provide office space and limited administrative support.

Qualifications:

Herman Kahn Fellows are expected to complete their dissertation work during their fellowship at Hudson. In the past, Kahn fellowships were awarded to Ph.D. students from Columbia University, Harvard University, Indiana University, Boston College, The University of Texas and The University of California-Berkeley.

Applications should be submitted no later than April 1, 2009. Only one Kahn fellowship will be rewarded per calendar year. The award will be announced no later than June 1, 2009 for a fellowship beginning in September 2009.

Complete applications consist of the following:

• A curriculum vitae
• Three letters of recommendation (two academic, one nonacademic)
• A writing sample (20 pages maximum)
