Robert H. McKinney*

Biographical Highlights

Robert H. McKinney recently retired as chairman of First Indiana Corporation, a publicly traded bank holding company, which operates First Indiana Bank, the largest bank based in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the former chairman of The Somerset Group, Inc., a publicly traded financial services company also based in Indianapolis, which merged into and with First Indiana Corporation in 2000. He is a founding partner of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, one of the largest law firms in Indianapolis, and was instrumental in its growth until he retired from the firm in 1991.

During the administration of President Carter, McKinney served as chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, the Federal Savings & Loan Insurance Corporation, and the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. Following his tenure, he also served as a presidential-appointed director of the Federal National Mortgage Association.

McKinney served as a trustee (1989-1998) of Indiana University and was president of the Board of Trustees from 1993 to 1994. He is currently a trustee of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation, a director of the Indiana University Foundation and a trustee of the Sierra Club Foundation. He was chairman of the Board of Advisors of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and was formerly a director and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Marian College. McKinney was a director of Clarion Health Partners, Inc. and chairman of its Finance, Planning & Human Resources Committee. He is a member of the President's Advisory Board for Cuba Broadcasting, appointed by President George W. Bush and approved by the Senate Foregin Relations Committee. McKinney also served as U.S. Senator Evan Bayh's representative on the Naval & Merchant Marine Academy Selection Committee.

McKinney is a director of Lynx Capital Corporation and is a trustee of Hudson Institute. He is also a director of many civic corporations including the Indianapolis Economic Club, the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Chief Executives Organization, Inc., and the World Presidents Organization.

McKinney is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, the Naval Justice School, and of the Indiana University School of Law. He has received honorary Doctorates of Law from Marian College and Butler University. He is also a Master Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

 

McKinney has also been designated by the Hudson Institute Board of Trustees as whistleblower in accordance with the "whistleblower" provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
