Biographical Highlights
John M. Mutz is the former president of PSI Energy, a former two-term lieutenant governor of Indiana, and a former president of Lilly Endowment. He is currently an adjunct professor at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, is a regular columnist for the Indianapolis Business Journal, and is the author of the recently published book Fundraising for Dummies.

Mutz is a seasoned executive with a unique blend of expertise in the political, philanthropic, and business sectors of society. While he served as Indiana's lieutenant governor during the 1980's, his agenda was job creation, training, and placement. Under his guidance, Indiana led the Great Lakes states in job creation. He also served four years in the state's House of Representatives and nine years in the State Senate.

After losing the race for Indiana Governor in 1988 as the Republican nominee, Mutz was recruited to be president of Lilly Endowment. The endowment is currently one of the five largest philanthropic organizations in the nation. Under his direction, the private foundation initiated its GIFT program that helped start more than 50 community foundations in Indiana through the use of challenge grants.

Mutz serves on several boards, including: the Indianapolis Museum of Art; the Indiana and Indianapolis Chambers of Commerce; Indianapolis Zoological Society; the United Way of Central Indiana; Hudson Institute; the Center for Ethics and Values at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (Executive Board); Lumina Foundation for Education (Vice Chairman); Consceo; National City Bank of Indiana; Walker Information; and CID Equity Partners (Advisory Board Member).

Mutz earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in advertising and business management from Northwestern University.
