Brendan Brown is a non-resident senior fellow at Hudson Institute. His work focuses on international economics and finance. 

Biography

Brendan Brown is a non-resident senior fellow at Hudson Institute. He is a monetary economist whose areas of special expertise include monetarism in theory and practice, asset inflation, Austrian School monetary tradition, European monetary integration, Japanese monetary issues, the global flow of capital, and international financial history.

Dr. Brown has developed practical tools of market analysis based on a distillation of his academic work in the above areas. He has constructed and applied the tools during a long career in international finance, including as the chief economist for Europe and Middle East at MUFG and now as founding partner of MacroHedgeAdvisors and MonetaryScenarios.

Dr. Brown is a senior fellow at the Mises Institute (USA).

He has published many books on contemporary finance and financial history. His most recent are A Guide to Good Money: Beyond the Illusions of Asset Inflation, cowritten with Robert Pringle (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), and Europe’s Century of Crises under Dollar Hegemony, cowritten with Philippe Simonnot (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). Earlier titles included Monetary Chaos in Europe 1914–31 (Routledge reprint, 2012) and Flight of International Capital (Routledge reprint, 2017).

Dr. Brown received a PhD from University of London, MBA from University of Chicago, MSc from London School of Economics, and MA from Cambridge University.

Dr. Brown is a columnist with Nikkei Veritas (Tokyo).
