The Importance of US Alliances in Europe: A Conversation with Senator Joni Ernst

A member of the Committee on Armed Services and a veteran of the Iowa Army National Guard, Senator Ernst is one of America’s foremost national security leaders on US alliances and Europe. As a college student, Ernst participated in an agricultural exchange to Ukraine when it was still part of the Soviet Union. As a senator, she has led or participated in several congressional delegations to Europe. Last week, she led a bipartisan effort with 14 of her colleagues urging the Biden administration to send MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine.
