In his new book Purpose and Power: US Grand Strategy from the Revolutionary Era to the Present (Cambridge University Press, 2024), Dr. Donald Stoker of the National Defense University lays out the grand strategies that have underpinned the United States’ foreign policy, from the Revolutionary War to the present great power competition against a China-led axis.
