Patrick Cronin appears on Defense & Aerospace Report to discuss Indo-Pacific perspectives on the United States’ deal with Iran, noting that regional leaders favor a return to the status quo to stabilize energy markets and lower oil prices. He says Japan is particularly concerned that it may need to contribute to US efforts, such as possible mine-clearing operations. Cronin adds that China is closely watching how Washington manages its negotiations with Tehran, while continuing to strengthen ties with Gulf states.
