Biography

Tomáš Pojar is a nonresident senior fellow with Hudson Institute’s Center on Europe and Eurasia.

His work at Hudson focuses on advancing American strategic leadership in Europe; deepening ties with key European allies and partners, especially in Central and Eastern Europe; and shaping policy debates on the continent’s most pressing geopolitical challenges.

Pojar is also vice president for international relations at the Prague-based CEVRO University.

From 2022 to 2025, Pojar held senior roles within the Czech government. He served as national security advisor to the prime minister, the prime minister’s sherpa for European Union matters and chief diplomatic advisor, and deputy minister to the minister of European affairs.

From 2014 to 2022, Pojar served as vice president at CEVRO University while consulting on defense, security, and foreign affairs. His earlier diplomatic career includes serving as Czech ambassador to Israel (2010–14); as first deputy minister at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs overseeing security matters, EU relations, and bilateral European partnerships (2006–10); and as deputy minister at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs managing bilateral relations (2005–06).

Prior to his work in the Czech Foreign Service, Pojar was executive director of People in Need, the largest Central European humanitarian aid organization.

Pojar holds an MA in counterterrorism and homeland security from the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at the Reichman University in Israel, and a BA in political science from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Charles University in Prague.
