Davos, Switzerland
It was the kind of dominance display Donald Trump loves. A crowd of CEOs, diplomats, media bigwigs and celebrities from all over the world poured through the entryways like a stream overflowing its banks. They waited impatiently in line and elbowed one another to snag a spot in the room where the American president was slated to make his speech. No other world leader—no other living person—commands this kind of attention from the global elite. Mr. Trump gave them the show they came to see.
The speech thrilled many in the MAGAverse. “If you’re a globalist,” Steve Bannon said, “you just think that Trump flew into Davos and went full gangster. If you’re a nationalist, it’s the greatest speech since Pericles at Athens.”
