WASHINGTON, DC— June 30, 2026, Hudson Institute is pleased to announce that former Congressman Brad Wenstrup, Nick Snyder, and Ulrich Speck have joined as nonresident senior fellows. Congressman Wenstrup will focus on national security and intelligence, Snyder on the Indo-Pacific, and Speck on Europe and the future of the transatlantic alliance.

Walters.
Congressman Wenstrup served in the US House of Representatives from 2013 to 2025, where he held senior positions on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, including chairman of the Subcommittee on the Central Intelligence Agency. He also served as the chair of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. A physician and Army Reserve officer, Wenstrup brings extensive experience in intelligence oversight, national security, and congressional investigations.
Snyder serves as a senior vice president at American Global Strategies, where he advises US firms on the Indo-Pacific and emerging foreign markets. A distinguished member of the US Senior Foreign Service, he most recently served as chief of staff to Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. He previously served as Vice President Mike Pence’s special adviser for Asia and the Pacific from 2018 to 2020 and held several senior State Department positions, including director of the Office of Japanese Affairs and deputy coordinator of the Office of China Coordination.
Before joining the US government, Snyder worked as a mergers and acquisitions analyst at Dillon, Read & Co. and as a journalist. He graduated magna cum laude in English and American literature from Harvard College. Snyder is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Speck is a leading analyst of transatlantic relations, European security, and German foreign policy. He writes a weekly geopolitical column for the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung and is a frequent commentator on European and transatlantic affairs.
Before joining Hudson, Speck advised senior German policymakers on national security and contributed to a major report on Germany’s security strategy commissioned by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. He has held research positions at leading think tanks in Europe and the United States, including the American-German Institute in Washington, DC, and is the author and coeditor of several books on transatlantic relations, Russia, China, and the liberal international order.
