Arming Japan & South Korea With Nukes To Counter North Korea Can Lead To Bigger Problems

Arthur Herman on Fox News Radio

On August 3rd, Arthur Herman appeared on the Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox News Radio to discuss the best way to reign in Kim Jong Un. Herman explained that a preemptive strike could have devastating consequences in the region, especially for our ally South Korea because they could be bombarded with chemical & bacteriological weapon attacks from North Korea. Herman said the immediate goal needs to be able to intercept a North Korean missile in its earlier boost phase and which is something that can't be done from ground or sea based ballistic missile defense systems. Herman says the best way to stop North Korea and avoid an all-out war is using a technological solution that involves destroying these missiles and destroying these launches as they take place. One possible solution that Herman disagrees with is to arm Japan and South Korea with nuclear weapons for multiple reasons including how it would be very hard to get that kind of technology back if South Korea developed a closer relationship with China.
