Kiran Kuchi

Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad

Hudson Institute hosted Professor Kiran Kuchi for a discussion on harnessing 5G technology in India. Professor Kuchi discussed India’s transition to 5G, how India’s wireless industry compares globally, and how Indian companies will choose network equipment vendors given the growing 5G competition between the U.S. and China. Hudson Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for the Economics of the Internet Harold Furchtgott-Roth moderated the discussion.

Professor Kuchi is a member of faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. He is also the founder and CEO of WiSig Networks, a 5G wireless start-up based out of Hyderabad. He is considered a leader in India’s 5G research and standards development efforts through his role in the Telecom Standards Development Society and participation in Third Generation Partnership Program, a global body that develops 5G standards and specifications. Professor Kuchi is the author of more than 100 international patents, many of them related to 5G technologies.
