Please be advised: This event will premiere LIVE on this page at 10:00 a.m. EST, Thursday, February 25.

Join Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Eric Brown and Adjunct Fellow Nury Turkel for a discussion with veteran journalist Kai Strittmatter about his groundbreaking book We Have Been Harmonised: Life in China’s Surveillance State.

China experts were once comfortable describing the People’s Republic of China (PRC) as “post-totalitarian,” but under Xi Jinping the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has used big data and artificial intelligence to build a new kind of totalitarianism.

In his new book, Strittmatter looks closely at the rise of “digital Leninism,” explains how the CCP has perfected techno-tyranny to maintain its grip on power, and explores the global impact of these practices.
