The United States–Japan alliance has long anchored security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. Today, as competition with China and heightened geopolitical uncertainty reshape global supply chains and create new risks, the alliance is expanding beyond defense into a deeper partnership that seeks to produce strategic advantages in advanced technologies, energy, infrastructure, and other key sectors.

As the Trump administration continues to prioritize revitalizing domestic industry, strengthening supply chain resilience, and deepening infrastructure cooperation with trusted partners, Japanese investment has focused on these strategic sectors as a core part of cooperation with the US.

Join Japan Bank for International Cooperation Senior Managing Director Hiroyuki Nakashima and Senior Fellow Nick Snyder for a conversation on the state of the US-Japan relationship, the links between economic cooperation and national security, and the opportunities and challenges ahead for the alliance.
