As the world begins to embrace the Internet of Things (IoT), connected devices will likely change many aspects of our lives. They will enable intelligent transportation, create better business solutions, transform healthcare, lead to agricultural innovations, turn home appliances into smart devices, and much more. Nonetheless, some commentators have argued that the licensing of patented technologies that have enabled this revolution will hinder the expansion of the IoT industry.
