Executive Director, Semiconductor Investment and Innovation, US Department of Commerce

America’s economy and military rely heavily on semiconductors, and producing this technology allows the country to lead in artificial intelligence. While the United States needs to expand domestic production and promote innovation, the challenge is daunting due to enormous capital requirements, complex supply chains, and global competition.

How can federal investment accelerate semiconductor onshoring and build US and allied resilience? What are the greatest obstacles to building a competitive American manufacturing base? How should Washington measure success for national security, industry, and taxpayers?

Bill Frauenhofer, executive director for semiconductor investment and innovation at the US Department of Commerce, will join Senior Fellow David Feith for an invitation-only fireside chat on semiconductor onshoring and the role of government capital in strengthening America’s technological and industrial leadership.
