Biography

Koichiro Takagi is a non-resident Japan Chair fellow. His research areas include future warfare, cognitive warfare, and the relationship between emerging technologies and operational concepts.

Mr. Takagi is a former deputy chief, Defense Operation Section, 1st Operation Division, J-3, Joint Staff Japan, and has designed joint operation plans and orders in the East Asian security environment.

Mr. Takagi holds a master's degree in information technology from the Graduate School of Engineering, Hokkaido University, where he studied artificial intelligence and data mining before joining the Japan Self-Defense Forces. He has recently published peer-reviewed articles on the future of cognitive warfare while working for the Joint Staff of Japan.
