Taiwan’s Ever-Changing Security Environment

This week, Taiwan will begin its largest annual live-fire military exercise known as the Han Kuang Exercise.

Conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have accelerated global efforts to develop lethal and affordable drone systems. Taiwan’s lawmakers, however, have already passed on one opportunity to fund a domestic drone industrial base. So lawmakers are once again debating the best way to fund a new effort and deter the People’s Liberation Army.
