Alexandra Seymour

Alexandra Seymour is a nonresident senior fellow at Hudson Institute. She specializes in artificial intelligence, emerging technology, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, and strategic technology cooperation between the United States and its allies and partners.

Seymour is also senior director of government affairs at Playground Global, a leading early-stage, deep tech venture capital firm. In this role, she helps Playground and its portfolio companies navigate policy, secure non-dilutive funding, shape regulatory positioning, and identify dual-use and sovereign market opportunities across allied democracies. She leads Playground’s global strategy for next-generation compute and automation technologies, with a focus on deepening partnerships in the Asia-Pacific region.

Previously, Seymour served in several senior roles in the US government. She was most recently served as principal deputy assistant national cyber director for policy at the White House Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD), where she was the principal staff member responsible for the formulation, coordination, and implementation of national cybersecurity policy. She has also served on the National Security Council staff and at the Pentagon. On Capitol Hill, Seymour drove legislative priorities for the House Homeland Security Committee on cyber and critical infrastructure protection, and for the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee on artificial intelligence, CHIPS and Science Act implementation, and quantum issues. She also co-founded and served as president of the Congressional Staff Association on Artificial Intelligence (CSA.ai). In addition to her government service, Seymour has researched technology issues at the Center for a New American Security and was chief of staff to the CEO at an AI security startup.

Seymour’s analysis and commentary on technology and cybersecurity issues have appeared in outlets including the Financial Times, BBC, CBS News, USA Today, The Hill, War on the Rocks, DefenseScoop, The Diplomat, and RealClearPolicy, among others.

She is the recipient of the 2025 Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT) Excellence in Action award, the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Seymour is a term member with the Council on Foreign Relations. She holds a BA in politics from Washington and Lee University.
