The grim reality is that North Korea will soon have intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking the United States with nuclear warheads. Since neither sanctions nor diplomacy will soon resolve this problem--and since pre-emptively attacking or accepting mutual vulnerability with North Korea is unacceptably risky--smart missile defense is the best path for U.S. security.
