Congressman Mike Gallagher

U.S. Representative from Wisconsin

**This event will premiere on this page at 9:00 a.m. EDT, Monday, June 8.**

Join Hudson Institute for a discussion with Congressman Mike Gallagher on the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) latest global power grabs and Australia's recent actions to gain clarity on the origins of the coronavirus. Hudson Senior Fellow Rebeccah Heinrichs will moderate the discussion.

While nations seek to learn more about COVID-19 to better prepare for future pandemics, the Chinese government has continued a pattern of obfuscation and misinformation. Australia's government has called for an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus, as global interest increases in how the outbreak accelerated so rapidly. Chinese Ambassador Cheng Jingye insinuated China could impose economic retaliation, including boycotts of Australian wine and beef, if the independent investigation proceeds.

Congressman Mike Gallagher has led bipartisan efforts to expose CCP corruption and boost support for U.S. allies, including Australia. He will discuss what U.S. policymakers can do to stand in solidarity with Australia and how the U.S. government can more effectively respond to the CCP's global campaign for power.
