Statement on the Appointment of Michael Pillsbury to Defense Policy Board

WASHINGTON—Hudson Institute Chief Operating Officer John Walters released the following statement congratulating Senior Fellow Michael Pillsbury on his appointment as chairman of the Defense Policy Board.

“Mike is not only an expert on the national security threat from the Communist Party in China, he is also an experienced strategic thinker. He is dedicated to helping shape the best policy options for America and our allies,” Walters said.

In addition to being a senior fellow, Dr. Pillsbury is the director for Chinese strategy at Hudson Institute. He is a distinguished defense policy adviser, former high-ranking government official, and author of numerous books and reports on China. He is the author of China Debates the Future Security Environment (NDU Press, 2000), The Hundred-Year Marathon: China’s Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower, and editor of Chinese Views of Future Warfare (NDU Press, 1998). Dr. Pillsbury was educated at Stanford University (B.A. in history with honors in social thought) and Columbia University (M.A., Ph.D.).
