He is a former food industry executive whose mission is to drive practical public policies on food and obesity issues and to guide business on how to profitably transition to better-for-you products.
Mr. Cardello is the author of Stuffed: An Insider's Look at Who's (Really) Making America Fat, and the landmark report, "__Better-For-You Foods: It's Just Good Business__":https://www.hudson.org/research/8423-better-for-you-foods-it-s-just-goo…. Most recently he served as architect for the confections industry commitment to reduce portion sizes and sell fewer calories.
For over three decades, Mr. Cardello was an executive at some of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, including president of Cadbury-Schweppes’ Sunkist Soft Drinks, vice president of marketing for Canada Dry, director of marketing for Coca-Cola USA, and brand manager for Anheuser-Busch and General Mills. He has served as chief executive officer for several nutritional food ingredient companies and, in 2000, was identified as a “Top 10 Innovator” in the nutritional foods industry. Mr. Cardello was also co-chair of the Global Obesity Business Forum, a public-private initiative sponsored by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mr. Cardello has written in numerous publications, including the __Wall Street Journal__, __New York Times__, __Washington Post__, __The Economist__, and __Time__, as well as appeared on major broadcast networks, including CNN, the BBC, Good Morning America, and CNBC. He holds his B.S. (magna cum laude) in materials science and metallurgy from Lehigh University, and an M.B.A. in marketing from the University of Pennsylvania' Wharton School.
